‘Duo Hartman – Van IJzerlooij’ bestaat sinds mei 2018 uit de samenwerking tussen trompettist Theo Hartman en cellist Ephraïm van IJzerlooij. Zij kennen elkaar al een aantal jaren door het spelen bij het ‘Triple Berry Trio’ samen met pianist Armin Segger. Als duo spelen zij repertoire voor cello en trompet wat als modern klassieke muziek kan worden omschreven. Tijdens recitals treden zij zowel solistisch en als duo op. Zo ontstaan boeiende programmeringen waarbij de rijke klank van de cello samensmelt met de diverse koperklanken van de trompet, cornet en bugel. Ook wordt gedacht aan toekomstige coöperatie met hedendaagse componisten om het repertoire te verbreden. Zo componeerde de Spaanse componist Jacinto Valido speciaal voor het duo ‘The Eye of the Sahara’ in het najaar van 2018 voor het première concert in Den Haag.

‘Duo Hartman – Van IJzerlooij’ has existed since May 2018 as a collaboration between trumpeter Theo Hartman and cellist Ephraïm van IJzerlooij. They have known each other for several years through playing in the ‘Triple Berry Trio’ together with pianist Armin Segger. As a duo, they perform repertoire for cello and trumpet, which can be described as modern classical music. During recitals, they perform both as soloists and as a duo. This creates captivating programs where the rich sound of the cello blends with the diverse brass tones of the trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn. They also consider future cooperation with contemporary composers to expand their repertoire. For example, Spanish composer Jacinto Valido specifically composed ‘The Eye of the Sahara’ for the duo in the autumn of 2018 for the premiere concert in The Hague.
